Dear Parent/Guardian:

 

    We are nearing the end of our 2011-2012 school year with only 18 days of school left. Albemarle School has many activities and celebrations scheduled for this month. Please make every effort to participate with your child in these activities.

    Please take time to congratulate the Teachers of the Year for 2011-2012 school year: Ms. Colleen Brown-McKinley, Ms. Tracie Simpson, Ms. Dina Signorelli & Ms. Joy Banks. Great job ladies.

    Our Chicken Fry Fundraiser is Friday, May 11th from 11:00 – 2:00 and 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Tickets are $8.00. If you have not purchased your tickets or need additional tickets, please call the office. If you are able to help at anytime during the day, please let us know.

    On May 15, 2012, we will have our Annual School Family/ Board of Directors Meeting at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. This is a special meeting for Albemarle School. This is your opportunity to meet the present school board members and the election of new members who will serve for the next three years. It will also be your opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have for next year.

    Awards Day will be on Thursday, May 17th. The afternoon assembly with all students will be at 1:00 PM for paper awards. The evening session will begin at 6:00 PM in the gym. You are invited to attend both ceremonies.

    Graduation Day will be May 25th at 7:00 PM in the gym. Please come out and support our nine seniors as they enjoy a big day in their lives and open the door to another journey.

      Kindergarten Graduation will be Thursday, May 24th in the gym at 1:00.

      Early registration continues until May 15th for the 2012-2013 school year. We encourage you to register early so we can make plans for next year. School reopens on August 15th.

Dear Parent/Guardians:

 

     Saturday was a very busy day here at Albemarle School. With thirty-two vendors, egg hunts and breakfast with the Easter Bunny, there was plenty to do for all ages. Many people got the opportunity to visit Albemarle School. Thanks to all the parents who helped cook, worked concession stands or helped out in any way to make this day very successful.

     Our Mythbusters Challenge/Science Fair was very exciting and provided our students opportunities to share research, creativity and displays from many different subject areas. Over 50 parents and guests visited the fair.

    Albemarle School had two teams participate in the District Hunter Safety Contest in Columbia this past weekend. Both teams competed and represented Albemarle School well. The junior team finished in second place on the Hunter Skills. Thanks to all the coaches and parents who have supported this program.

    April will be busy and will pass quickly with Spring Break next week. Albemarle School will sponsor their annual golf tournament at The Pines on April 13th. If you would like to sponsor a team or be a hole sponsor, please contact the school. Our CAT tests and the Week of the Young Child are set up for the week of April 23rd.

     The time to complete your parent participation hours (PPP) has been extended until May 25th. Please turn your hours’ sheet in to the office so we can update the bookkeeping process.

      We need to remind you that early registration for the 2012-2013 school year is from April 2nd until May 15th. This will save you $100.00 on registration. Tuition rate and Parent Participation hours will remain the same for the 2012-13 school year.

    We are currently taking registration for all K-5 students who need summer care beginning June 4th, 2012. You may pick up an application in the office.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

 

  Our school year is moving by very quickly. Hopefully, your child is having many positive experiences. If you have concerns about your child’s progress, please contact the school.

  February was a very busy month with the Valentines’ Day celebrations, high school basketball games and Saturday Morning Colt games. We also had a lot of fun, fellowship and good food at the Sweepstakes Dinner. Thanks to each of you for your donations and support of this event.

   Our bloodmobile was a huge success. Our school goal was 30 pints and we collected 46 pints. Our SGA provided valuable assistance all day long. Thanks to each person who donated or tried to give and to those of you who had someone come out to donate. We have already put this event on the calendar for next year and raised our school goal.

  The month of March will have activities such as spring pictures, Hunter Safety competition, Colt Family/Bingo Night, Vendor Sale and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Please check out the school events below or the calendar on Albemarle School’s website. 

   During the third week of March a team of educators from AdvancED of North Carolina will visit Albemarle School for three days to interview parents, students, staff and board members. This accreditation process is looking to see that Albemarle School meets a set of educational standards that effectively drive student performance and provide continuous improvement in education.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

 

We have completed five months of our 2011-2012 school year. Hopefully your child has experienced great success the first half and is looking forward to having much more in the second semester.  If you need to have a conference with your child’s teacher(s), please contact him/her and schedule one. If you have questions about your child’s progress please contact us.

 

Our school recently celebrated the 100th day of school with many different activities, games and contests in the elementary grades. Please ask your child what they did for the 100th day of school.

 

One of Albemarle School’s largest fundraisers is coming up on Saturday, February 11th at 6:00 PM in the gym. This is our annual “Sweepsteaks Dinner” and Reverse Raffle. Cash and Prizes totaling $3,000.00 will be given away. Please come out and enjoy a steak dinner for two, enjoy the fellowship with the “Colt Family” and go home with a very nice prize. Tickets are $100.00 and are available in the school office.

 

Albemarle School will host the American Red Cross bloodmobile on Thursday, February 23rd in the gym from 2:00 to 6:30 PM. Our school goal is 30 pints. Please come out and donate blood to support this worthwhile cause.

Dear Parents/Guardians;

 

Albemarle School’s staff would like to wish you and your family a Happy New Year! Hopefully each of you had a joyful holiday season, enjoyed all the beautiful weather and had opportunities to spend time with your families.

 

Many exciting things happened at Albemarle School during the month of December. There were plenty of Christmas celebrations in each classroom. Special thanks to all the students, teachers and Ms. Shannon Bright for the outstanding Christmas performance. The students’ performance was before a packed house in the gymnasium and the play and music was enjoyed by all. Everyone also enjoyed the special visit from Santa Claus. Thanks to those volunteers who helped with the Secret Santa fundraiser. We took in about $800.00.

 

January will also be a busy month with many things happening to enhance Albemarle School. We are beginning our second semester on January 2nd. It is hard to believe the year is half over. Report Cards will be going home on January 5th. Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like a parent conference to discuss your child’s progress and what goals he/she need to meet to be successful for the end of year.

Saturday morning basketball for grades 3-6 will begin at the end of January. Look for more information to be coming home this week.

On January 27th, we will have an early release day as the Albemarle Staff continues to prepare for the SACS accreditation visit on March 21st & 22nd. Afterschool care will be open on January 27th. Thank you for your understanding and patience as our staff works to prepare for this accreditation visit.

 

Our elementary playground has arrived and several volunteers have started with the installation. The installation will take several days to complete with the digging and cementing that is necessary for complete installation. If you are interested in helping and need PPP hours, please contact the office and you will be contacted on the days scheduled to work.

Dear Parent/Guardians,

Our faculty and staff would like to thank all the parents who assisted in making our Thanksgiving Feast and Thanksgiving activities a big success. We would also like to thank you for supporting the Seafood Festival and the “Home for the Holidays “vendor fair. We appreciate all the volunteers who came out to help on these events. Your involvement truly makes a difference in the lives of our students at Albemarle School. We have special activities in December that also need valuable hands to help. Please see the calendar for these dates.

The first semester is quickly coming to an end. We have two weeks before exam week and the end of the first semester. Our exams are scheduled for December 14th, 15th & 16th. Please remember that on these days we follow the early release schedule of 11:15 for K-5 and 11:30 for 6-12. Our Secret Santa Shop will be open December 5th, 6th & 7th. The Christmas Program with K-5 students is on December 13th at 7:00 PM in the gym. Santa Claus is planning to make a guest appearance.

Dear Parents/Guardians;
October has come to an end and we have had a very busy and exciting month at Albemarle School. Hopefully you attended your child’s parent conference and found out their academic progress. If you did not attend your child’s conference, please contact the school and schedule one.
Thanks to all the parents who participated and helped in the different activities this month at school. From the ballgames, field trips, to the Fall Festival, we thank you for making these activities successful for our students at Albemarle School. Thanks to the numerous parents who volunteered at the Fall Festival. The live auction and the jail were a huge success.
November will again be filled with many activities. We begin the month with the Albemarle School Yard Sale on Saturday, November 5th from 7:00 to 12:00. Colt Family Meeting/Spaghetti Dinner will be Monday, November 7th with dinner beginning at 5:30 PM and the meeting at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $5.00.
 We have Veteran’s Day Holiday on November 11th and Thanksgiving Holidays on November 24th & 25th. There will be no school or child care on these days. The School Board has approved an early release day on November 18th for staff members to work on the School Accreditation. We will also have an early release day on November 23rd before the holidays. There will be after school care on November 18th but not on November 23rd.
Our annual Seafood Festival will be on Saturday, November 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Tickets are $30.00 for the all-you-can-eat seafood and $10.00 for students 3rd grade and below. You may purchase tickets in the school’s office. Please continue to support our students.
 There are two other items to mention about school schedules and safety.  Tardies are mounting up on some students. We remind you that Albemarle School begins at 8:00 AM. Please drop your students off on time and kiss them goodby unless you are volunteering or need a parent conference. Teachers are expected to begin their instructional day at 8:00.
On the safety side, we need parents to slow down in the parking lot when dropping off or picking up students. If you are coming in the building, please do not double park (blocking others) or park in front of the doorways and mailbox. Thank you for your help in these safety precautions.

October 3rd, 2011

Dear Parents/Guardians:Albemarle School has made improvements to the exterior of our facility. Volunteers have completed the painting of the 3-5 walkway, painted the front of the cafeteria and the back entranceway to the preschool building. Other volunteers have repaired bathroom leaks and fixed air conditioner problems. We thank each of you who have given your time to make our school a better place. October brings another month of many activities here at Albemarle. The Book Fair, Red Ribbon Week and field trips for Fire Safety and to the Famers Market are just some of these. Our volleyball team is currently 2-4 in the Tidewater Independent Conference. They will play 5 home games during the month of October. Please come out and support our ladies.Albemarle School will again be sponsoring the Fall Festival on October 28 from 3-7 PM. Please encourage your child to participate. Find out what is the project for their class and volunteer to help that night. Please come out and enjoy this evening and have some fun with your school family.On a safety note, please monitor your speed limit coming on and off campus when students are being dropped off. We have had several complaints of cars traveling too fast on campus. Thank you for your help as we look after the safety of our students.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
The staff at Albemarle School would like to thank you for your help in making our first fifteen days of school go smoothly. Our students and staff are excited about the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. Thanks also for the huge turnout of parents that we had for our Open House on August 15.
We have survived Irene with very little damage and had a very successful playground fundraiser. We appreciate the people who helped clean up after the storm and the volunteers who helped out with plates for the BBQ/Chicken dinner. There will be another fundraiser for the playground on Thursday, September 8. Applebee’s along with the Coastal Carolina Riders will sponsor “Dining to Donate”. If you dine at Applebee’s on this day and present a coupon, 20% of your bill will be donated toward the playground at Albemarle School. Coupons may be picked up in the office.
September will be a busy month as we continue to get organized for our school year. We would encourage every parent to become involved and to help as we work on fundraisers, support our Colt Family and athletic booster clubs or just to volunteer in the classroom. On Saturday, September 10 from 8-12, we will have a clean up day. Please bring paint brushes, rollers and scrapers as we clean and paint the walkway for the 3-5 grades. We need your help to continue to improve our facility and meet all students’ needs.
Albemarle School will add two new faces to our school family as we move into September. Ms. Jennifer Macaluso will begin as Middle School English/Social Studies teacher on September 7 and Ms. Carolyn Klett will begin as the Computer teacher on September 13.
